It goes without saying that the practice of any martial art will bring about general fitness benefits.

In addition, the practice of Taekwon-Do will improve your balance, flexibility, stamina and strength.

A core principle of Taekwon-Do is, of course, self defence.

Practicing Taekwon-Do affords the student a confidence that they will be able to look after themselves, or others, when called upon.

Taekwon-Do requires discipline. Both self discipline and discipline around others.

Children, in particular, can often benefit from the learning and application of discipline in the Taekwon-Do environment.

Most frequent questions and answers

Fortunately, there is no such thing as a typical class in Taekwon-Do.

We will always warm up at the beginning, but after that the class can consist of any or all of the following:

  • Fundamental Moves
  • Patterns
  • Self Defence
  • Sparring
  • Breaking of Boards
  • Strength Training

We recommend that children start Taekwon-Do no earlier than age 6.

In Blessington, we have a special class called Tigers & Dragons for children form 6 – 11 which introduces them to the fundamentals of Taekwon-Do in a fun environment.

That said, children can take part in the normal class from the age of 6.

Everybody works at different levels and has different capabilities. In the dojang (training hall), you are expected to give it your all. That is all we ask of you.
