In 2020, Covid-19 took its toll on many people around the world. Apart from the horrific human impact, many gyms, clubs and other sports organisations have closed their doors as a side effect.
Since April 2020, Blessington Taekwon-Do school has operated continuously, offering at least 4 online classes per week from its base in West Wicklow to R.I.T.A students from all over the country.
All of this has been done without charging an online class fee, despite paying our monthly dojang rent throughout the period.
Unfortunately, this will catch up with us very soon, so we are organising this fundraiser to pay the dojang rent for the foreseeable future and to allow us to continue to offer the online classes free of charge until such time as we can all return to group training.
Our Assistant Instructor in Blessington, Mr. Brian Murray (II), has created a piece of art, a limited edition lino print of our founder General Choi Hong Hi which we will sell to raise the funds. Only 100 prints will be created.
The print, called “Haneul Son” (Heaven Hand), shows General Choi in this iconic pose, wearing his dobok. Underneath displays his signature as shown in The Encyclopedia of Taekwon-Do.
The print is hand-carved, in reverse, from vinyl lino, and each print will be individually hand-printed and numbered from 1 to 100.
The finished print is A4 is size (29.7cm x 21cm) and will fit most standard frames and would be a beautiful addition to any home, office or dojang.
